This work is dedicated to Patanjali, the founder of the Yoga system.
One could say Patanjali was a scientist of the inner world.
He created a logical system which aims to transform human consciousness. While doing so, he avoided any religious context.

The Yoga system constitutes of eight parts.
They can be seen as steps which have a logical order, in which each higher step is supported by the lower one(s).

At the bottom of the painting we can see a Sanskrit text fragment of the Yoga Sutras, in which Patanjali describes these eight steps:

`Moral injunctions (yama), fixed observances (niyama), posture (asana), rightness of breath (pranayama), internalization of the senses towards their source (pratyahara), concentration (dharana), and the absorption of consciousness in the Self (samadhi), are the eight constituents of Yoga´.
